Photos from the second day of the ninth “Weekend at the Asylum” steampunk festival in Lincoln
We dressed as pirates on Saturday. I’d planned to enter the face fuzz contest, but I was stewarding at the Assembly Rooms in the morning, so lunch was late, and I wasn’t ready in time even to watch any of it. I think that I’d have been substantially outclassed though, even with the help from my little Lego friend:
Not much of a theme for the following pics; just a random selection of splendid folk:
- Spring-heeled Jack-in-a-box?
- Supposedly from the newly discovered Dickens novel “Mudfog”
- I was focussed on the tea-bagk-pack when I took this, and didn’t even notice the bird-carrying viking with propellor horns
- The subject of “standard hat fingering” was raised when I talked to this chap about the working bellows-driven musical instrument on his head. If only he’d chosen a taller hat, it could have been a stove pipe organ
Attendees at the Steampunk Mashup:
- Audience
- Victor Von Doom
- “Are you Batman?” “No, I’m Superman”
- Three interpretations of who ya gonna call when there’s something weird
The day ended with a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang sing-a-long, plus a replica and a costume contest:
